“Cosa vorrai che sia? È solo qualche foto innocente”. Più o meno è questo quello che sostengono i tanti genitori che non si fanno troppe preoccupazioni nel condividere immagini dei loro figli sui social network. Ma è davvero così? Non secondo Gianluigi Bonanomi, giornalista e noto formatore digitale, nonché autore di numerosi libri divulgativi di succsso, tra cui “Sharenting”, che già dal titolo mette in guardia i genitori (deputati al “parenting”) nel rapporto tra i loro figli e la Rete, con le sue  infinite potenzialità di sharing. “Certo, sono solamente delle immagini, nella maggior parte dei casi effettivamente innocenti, non sessualizzate diciamo. Ma non dobbiamo dimenticare che viviamo in una società dove l’immagine è tutto e i rapporti sociali non sono più filtrati dall’incontro a quattrocchi. Tutto corre in rete, è la percezione è ben diversa, soprattutto fra i più giovani”, spiega Bonanomi.

Sharenting e cyberbullismo: un rischio concreto

“Delle semplici immagini possono dare l’occasione di sfogarsi a qualche cyberbullo, che potrebbe non esitare a ricondividerle accompagnandole con frasi ben poco lusinghiere”, spiega Bonanomi a TPI. “Saranno pure bambini, ma sappiamo bene che spesso i più piccoli possono essere molto crudeli sotto questo profilo, spesso senza nemmeno rendersi conto delle conseguenze che potrebbero avere le loro azioni. Tra l’altro, non è detto che sono cose che accadono immediatamente. Queste immagini possono rimanere sopite a lungo, per poi venire riprese in seguito, quando magari i figli sono cresciuti, e si trovano ridicolizzati dagli amici per qualcosa avvenuto anni prima”.

“Improbabile? Mica tanto, se pensiamo per esempio al caso di Star War Kid. Si tratta di un filmato del 2002 di un ragazzino 15enne chiamato Ghyslain Raza, che si è ripreso mentre si esibiva imitando Darth Maul di Guerre Stellari brandendo una scopa al posto della spada laser. Un filmato non pensato per divenire pubblico, ma che è stato trovato per caso e messo a disposizione su numerosi servizi P2P (YouTube doveva ancora nascere) e diventato presto virale. I commentatori del video non si sono però limitati a farsi due risate e hanno iniziato ad attaccare pesantemente il giovane Raza, sia virtualmente, sia di persona, dato che tutti i compagni di classe ormai lo avevano visto. Insulti e invidi al suicidio erano all’ordine del giorno, tanto che Raza ha dovuto ricorrere alle cure di uno psichiatra per superare il trauma e cambiare istituto scolastico. I media hanno fatto la loro parte, rendendo ancora più virale il filmato, ma Raza ha avuto l’intelligenza e la forza di tenersene lontano ‘Perché mi invitavano? Volevano esibirmi come un fenomeno da baraccone’, ha spiegato il giovane in un’intervista del 2013″. Qualcuno obietterà che non si tratta di vero e proprio sharenting, alla fine sono state altre persone (non i genitori) a trovare la cassetta col filmato e postarla online, ma secondo il formatore il punto non cambia: “Si tratta di un filmato diffuso senza l’autorizzazione del diretto interessato. Se al posto di un adolescente il video fosse stato caricato dai genitori, pur senza intento di prenderlo in giro, il risultato sarebbe stato esattamente lo stesso”.

Sharenting e pedofilia: mai sottovalutare i pervertiti

“Il cyberbullismo può portare a serie conseguenze, ma non è l’unico rischio che si corre quando ci si lascia trasportare dallo sharenting. Come reagireste sapendo che le foto dei vostri figli sono in mano a qualche pedofilo? Sembra impossibile? Mica tanto. Secondo uno studio della Children’s eSafety Commissioner australiana, la metà delle foto scambiate dai pedofili proveniva dalle bacheche di Facebook”. Praticamente, ci sono pervertiti che prendono foto di bimbi dai social e le distribuiscono sui loro network, caratterizzandole in maniera sessuale: “Esatto. Non parliamo necessariamente di bambini nudi mentre fanno il bagno, ma di immagini estremamente innocenti di infanti che nuotano, che giocano o che fanno sport, che vengono condivise fra gruppi di pedofili accompagnate da ‘commenti estremamente espliciti e disturbanti’, come ha spiegato uno degli investigatori della commissione, Alastair MacGibbon”.

“Toby Dagg, senior investigator della eSafety Commission, ha dato qualche numero per inquadrare il fenomeno, specificando che in un sito di pedofili contenente 45 milioni di immagini, circa la metà proveniva dai social network, ed era indicizzata in cartelle con nomi poco rassicuranti come “Kik girls” o “My daughter’s Instagram friends”. “C’è anche di peggio, purtroppo”, continua Bonanomi. “Talvolta i pervertiti non si limitano a condividere queste immagini accompagnandole da commenti volgari, ma le modificano con Photoshop, applicando per esempio le foto del volto di un bimbo sul corpo di un altro, nudo. In certi casi, non si fanno nemmeno scrupoli nell’associare queste foto al nome del piccolo o della sua famiglia, rendendo la perversione ancora più pericolosa, attirando le attenzioni di potenziali stalker”.

Non a caso, Bahareh Ebadifar Keith e Stacey Steinberg, pediatri della University of Florida hanno scritto sulla rivista medica JAMA Pediatrics che la condivisione di immagini online dei figli “introduce nuovi rischi ancora da esplorare per i bambini, e alcuni genitori sono privi dell’esperienza, della competenza e della prudenza necessari a proteggere i figli da questi pericoli”.  Steinberg insiste anche sul fatto che non vuole certo impedire ai genitori di esprimersi. “Non sto cercando di silenziare i genitori”, ha spiegato, “Penso che stiamo vivendo in un’era estremamente connessa. Abbiamo un forte desiderio di condividere le nostre storie, ed è importante. Ma i nostri figli sono parte integrante di queste storie. Quando posti un’immagine, chi è che potrebbe vederla?”.

“Possiamo limitare la privacy, evitare che i contatti che ne hanno accesso possano condividerla a loro volta, ma ci vuole poco a prendere uno screenshot e far sfuggire l’immagine al controllo previsto. Proprio per questo motivo il consiglio degli studiosi del fenomeno è quello di andare sempre coi piedi di piombo e riflettere sempre se è il caso o meno di pubblicare una foto dei propri pargoli”, conclude amaramente Bonanomi.
